Born in 1990, Doddridge Busingye is a practicing visual artist based in Kampala, Uganda. He holds a Masters Degree in Fine Art from Makerere University and a Bachelor of Art and Industrial Design from Kyambogo University. Using a minimalist approach to composition, his work dares to share his opinion on socio-political, economic and gender ironies of his time with the viewer.

“Winnowing baskets, also known as ‘Engali’ in my mother tongue are used for cleaning and sorting cereals during harvest. The partially burnt (but still functional pair of winnowing baskets in this composition, draw inspiration from the perseverance of people in continuing to provide for their families and survive through the ongoing COVID19 pandemic period.” – Doddridge Busingye
