Her art practice can be described as largely experimental with a central theme of identity. Nicole’s entry artwork “Eight: An Anthology” is a mixed media interactive installation made from cassette tapes and newspapers. The installation that uses the rotating mechanism of the cassette tape to enable a viewer to nostalgically rewind and forward through 16 poems to be found within 8 cassettes in the installation. The poems consist of words and phrases sourced from various print publications and reassembled by the artist to reflect the socio-political zeitgeist and existential angst. The cassette mechanism features an intricate yet utilitarian design that celebrates the simplicity of its design.
