Born in 1991, Charlene Komuntale is a freelance digital illustrator / artist based in Kampala, Uganda. She holds a BA in Animation from Limkokwing University, Malaysia.
“As a child, I wanted to be a cartoon character because of the endless possibilities, unconfigured to gravity or form. Fortunately, that didn’t happen. But that whimsical thinking led me to pursue a degree in animation where I fell in love with concept art which allows me to express my visions.” – Charlene Komuntale
She had this to say about the entry artwork: “This painting is a depiction of our nation. Its flaws blinding it from the recognition of its worth. Its beauty remains whether seen or unseen. But how much more glorious she could be with vision, able to access her pearls.”
