Born in June 1996, Donah Ntibankundiye is a self-taught artist based in Mukono, Uganda. She holds a Bachelor of Tourism degree from Makerere University, Uganda and is a founder of Hannodlist Gallery in Mukono, Uganda.
The artist’s entry artwork was inspired by the great job performed by the news journalists, particularly those picking news from the field. She notes that:
“Those places can be both calm and brutal depending on the situations at hand. I mostly based my creation on the brutal side where news reporters face hostility but end up delivering clean and informative pictures or information regardless of the environment they work in.
In this art piece, I drew a man holding a camera which is clear, then the background was a little scrambled and disorganised with a variety of colours mixed unevenly which represents the environment and the camera plus the man to literally convey the organised and meaningful content journalists capture.”- Donah Ntibankundiye
