“The drawing is the visual embodiment of domestic abuse in Uganda and around Africa. In the drawing a young woman is seated in a dark corner void of joy or hope and a future cut off by the walls around her. Her hair is poorly done and half-dressed her. The face clashes with the rest of her body in terms of age showing how much she has lost already due to years of torment with scars on her skin not seeming to end as they blend with the shadows cast by her body. The walls closing her off from her life outside, her only hope is that she survives another beating for her future now lies in her scars” – Ryan Edwin Ssendagire
