Born in June 1999, Martin Ssekidde is a full-time artist based in Kampala, Uganda. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Industrial Art & Design degree from Nkumba University, Uganda. His practise mostly involves drawing with ink, coloured pencil and charcoal as well as acrylic painting. His objectives include using art as a therapeutic tool and creating art that communicates personal stories.
His selected entry artwork is part of a series in respect of which he had this to say: “Sweet reminiscence are series that display the art of invention among the kids in my society in the infant 2000’s, the sense of generating unique happy moments with whatever they got hands to. The positivity and creativity to mold beauty out of the normal day life is an attitude I think we have to carry with even in our present times regardless of age.” – Martin Ssekidde
